Repairing Materials for Defects in Sanitary Fittings

As the saying goes, "Prevention is better than cure",  this is so with Civil Engineering Structures too.  It is wise to ensure that corrosion resistance is built during the design/construction stage itself, instead of attending to its mal-effects at a later stage by adopting time consuming/ expensive methods. 

Objectives 

At the end of this unit, you should be able to: 

• know the various ways of dealing with the corrosion problem, 
• understand the Coatings and protective layers, 
• analyse Design and construction practices which Maximilian the protection afforded by the Portland cement concrete, 
• adopt Treatments which penetrate or are applied on the surface (of the reinforced concrete member) to exclude chloride ion from the concrete, and
• apply the Techniques which prevent corrosion of the reinforcement directly.
